Part III

After a hard day of endurance, Ernest collapsed on his bed. The chemistry professor, Elías Dologin, also had a necklace... He was a cranky old man with arthritis problems... Now he was a cold, emotionless old man with lubricated bones. He stretched to get to the top of a shelf, something he should be incapable of doing, according to Eric. He was a close friend of the teacher and found its personality change highly disturbing. And like Belle, Eric was also neglected by Dologin, calling him "a blind mistake."

After waking up, Ernest found Belle, Sarah and Eric talking in the campus. They seemed very stressed and anxious, as if they were up to something and didn't want anybody to find out. When Ernest approached, they changed the topic, saying they wanted to take Ernest out. He was wary but... they were his friends... How he could deny something like that based only on suppositions? His moral sense prevailed over his preservation instinct and he accompanied them.

The four amigos decided to go for some drinks. Given that Ernest wasn't legal yet, they settled for smoothies. Upon arriving at the smoothie store, they were astonished to find the three teachers talking there. Nile, Larousse and Dologin. They were talking about something... Nile seemed the most  interest, his cold eyes shining with inhuman admiration... Too creepy for the customers and the students alike.

After Belle and Sarah brought the drinks, everyone was on a semi cheerful mood. Sarah clumsily knocked her drink, so Ernest went for another.  When he got to the counter, he turned to see his friends... And noticed the three teachers fixated on them. Their gazes were locked on the three students and they only turned away when Eric gave them a very timid and remorseful thumbs-up. Nile's smile was unsettling at best... And downright abominable at worst.

When Ernest returned, Belle was very sad. Maybe her drink wasn't sugar free as she asked... But she hugged him very strongly when he asked if she was okay. Sarah was twice the shy she used to be, diverting her gaze at every opportunity she was given.

A chill ran through Ernest spine when he saw Eric's eyes. They didn't need glasses anymore. They were a weird mix between grey and blue.

"I'm so sorry" He said, in a lowly drone.
